Robin, I wanted to take a minute to tell you how pleased I am with the service I received from your company. I had a question on one of your products and spoke to Jack; he called the manufacturer and called me back immediately with the answer. After I had ordered my table, I e-mailed Patti asking her if she could tell me when the table was shipping; she not only e-mailed me the same day, she also gave me the tracking number. My table was exactly as described on your Web site and I am very pleased. I have recommended Computer Table Store to my friends and will definitely visit again. Thank you for terrific customer service. Best regards,
Elizabeth

A Kevinism is a funny or intriguing statement or idea from our Vice President of Sales, Kevin Hunt. Kevin is a big fan of Sandra Bullock, Pizza Inn black olive pizza, and Dr. Pepper (not necessarily in that order). He is not a big fan of Chinese food, seafood, or other types of "dead" stuff. In the August article, I described how Kevin frequently goes "off on a tangent." See the August 2006 newsletter. One of the key indicators that Kevin has gone off on a tangent is that he creates new words or new definitions for words. Here are some recent gems.

Recumbesize Back in May I purchased a recumbent bicycle. A recumbent bicycle has a lower seat with a back rest, and the pedals are higher and much more forward than on a regular bicycle. Here is a photo:
This type of bicycle is significantly better on your knees and back than is a typical bicycle. You can ride in a reclining posture, and there is plenty of back support. You are also much closer to the ground, so being able to put your feet down on the ground when stopped is much easier. There are three gears in front and eight in the rear, for a total of 24 gear ratios. The bike is a little unstable at very low speeds and takes a little getting used to. It climbs hills nicely, but slowly, and goes downhill great. During the Spring and Summer I tried to ride every other day. I have a figure eight course comprised of local streets in my neighborhood. There are two hill climbs and one long descent that takes about 3.5 minutes per circuit. I try to ride eight or ten circuits per ride. This provides a pretty good workout. I don't know how the Fall and Winter months are going to work out. Perhaps I will be limited to weekends only. Anyway, whenever Kevin wants to know if I have been riding, he says, "Did you recumbesize?"

Part 17 Continued from October Since the October 2005 issue
the following personality types have been defined: |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Here is what the symbols in the above grid represent: NC
= no conflict, + OR - = possible
conflict, +
= minor conflict, ++
= major conflict Conflict Resolution This section addresses the ultimate goal of this book. Once people understand which personality types are represented in their homes, they can take steps to reduce or eliminate the conflicts that exist. It can also be important for people to understand why they may not have any conflict, if in fact none exists. We can review the last three issues in order, and examine the best ways to eliminate the conflicts that exist. Keep in mind however, that this book is not designed as a highly detailed psychoanalysis of anyone. Even though there are generally four personality types for each sex, there are probably multiple gradations within each type. Just keep things light and remember to have some fun. If all else fails, at least you will understand your partner and their motivations a little better. Conflict Resolution - Possible Conflicts The Fairy Godmother has possible conflicts with the Man of Leisure, the Paleolithic Man, and the Philosopher King. However, resolving these possible conflicts is fairly simple. Since the Fairy Godmother really wants to do whatever the man wants, she can quickly transition into a Cinderella. Living with a Cinderella might be OK for the man, as far as the toilet etiquette is concerned, but is probably not a very good thing when the relationship as a whole is considered. The best solution is for the Fairy Godmother to take on the "role" of the woman that most closely matches that of her man. If the man is a Man of Leisure, the Fairy Godmother acts like a Queen of the Realm. If the man is a Paleolithic Man, she acts like an Interior Decorator, except that she has not truly become one, so she does not have the same conflicts that a real Interior Decorator would have with a Paleolithic Man. If the man is a Philosopher King, then the Fairy Godmother assumes the role of a Warrior Princess. Ultimately, the Fairy Godmother might actually change into one of these other types, but she can easily retain her basic personality by simply acting like them. Since all she wants to do is agree with the man of the house, this is a fairly simple thing to do. The possible conflict between the Interior Decorator and the Man of Leisure is also a fairly simple one to resolve. However, it starts with the understanding that the Interior Decorator likes the toilet environment to be "pretty" and, that she is not going to change. The Man of Leisure needs to accept these two facts. This should not be news to the Man of Leisure. Frequently, the Interior Decorator's personality trait extends well beyond the bathroom to encompass the entire house. The Man of Leisure can react in a similar way to that described above for the Fairy Godmother. He can retain his main traits but adopt the role of the Paleolithic Man. This will allow him to accept the toilet lid being down. He cannot truly become a Paleolithic Man, as that might lead to conflicts over the role of the toilet once the lid is down. So the best thing is to calmly accept the fact that the Interior Decorator wants the lid down. He will then benefit from a more blissful and more relaxed life.
